Leeds City Museum and Resource Centre
Mascot project managed this project through the Stage 2 Heritage Lottery Fund application and through the pre-contract stages.
Leeds City Council were awarded SHLF Lottery funding to develop proposals for the refurbishment of The Leeds Institute Building, a Grade II* listed building currently used as the Civic Theatre, to become the new City Museum based at Millennium Square in the centre of the city.
The Institute building was designed by Cuthbert Broderick in 1865 and was coverted to become the home for the City’s Collections, some of which are of national importance.
In addition a new Storage and Research Facility was built to enable safe environmentally controlled storage of the Collections not displayed in the Museum.
